    Steven K. Feiner is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Columbia University, where he directs the Computer Graphics and User Interfaces Laboratory. He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Brown University. His research interests include knowledge-based design of graphics, user interfaces, virtual worlds, animation, visual languages, image synthesis, hypermedia, and visualization. Prof. Feiner is coauthor of Computer Graphics: Principles and Practice (Addison-Wesley, 1990) and Introduction to Computer Graphics (Addison-Wesley, 1993), is an Associate Editor of ACM Transactions on Information Systems, and is on the editorial boards of Electronic Publishing and Advances in HCI. He is currently program chair of the ACM 1994 Symposium on User Interface Software and Technology and program co-chair of both the ACM 1994 Conference on Virtual Reality Software and Technology and the IEEE 1995 Virtual Reality Annual International Symposium. In 1991 he received an Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award.

In 1991 he received an Office of Navel Research Young Investigator Award.
