    Nadia Magnenat Thalmann, NTU, Singapore and MIRALab, University of Geneva. Prof. Nadia Magnenat Thalmann is currently Professor and Director of the Institute for Media Innovation (IMI), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal The Visual Computer. Her research area is the modelling of Virtual Humans and Social Robots. She has received many artistic and scientific Awards, among them the 2012 Humboldt Research Award, and two Doctor honoris Causa (University of Hanover, Germany and University of Ottawa). She leads the team who recently developed the world known Social Robot Nadine.

    Prof. Nadia Magnenat Thalmann is currently Professor and Director of the Institute for Media Innovation, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She is also the Founder and Director of the MIRALab, University of Geneva, Switzerland. She is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal The Visual Computer (Springer-Verlag). Her research area is the modelling of Virtual Humans and Social Robots. All over her career, she has received many artistic and scientific Awards, among them the 2012 Humboldt Research Award, and two Doctor honoris Causa (University of Hanover, Germany and University of Ottawa)

    Prof. Nadia Magnenat Thalmann has pioneered research into virtual humans over the last 30 years. She obtained a PhD in Quantum Physics from the University of Geneva (1977). She has published landmark papers on virtual humans, particularly on deformations, cloth and hair simulation. She has received numerous awards, among them two honorary doctorate from the University of Hanover, Germany and the University of Ottawa, Canada. Recently, she receives the Humboldt Research Award in Germany. She is presently Professor and Director of the Institute for Media Innovation at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and Director of MIRALab at the University of Geneva.

    Nadia Magnenat-Thalmann has pioneered research into virtual humans for more than 25 years. She obtained several bachelors and masters degrees in various disciplines and a PhD in quantum physics from the Université de Genève in 1977. She created the university’s MIRALab in 1989, and she has served as the university’s Vice Rector.

    Nadia Magnenat Thalmann is currently full Professor of Computer Science at the University of Geneva, Switzerland and Adjunct Professor at HEC Montreal, Canada. She has served on a variety of government advisory boards and research program committees in Canada. She has received several awards, including the 1985 Communications Award from the Government of Quebec. She is the President of the Computer Graphics Society. Dr. Magnenat Thalmann received a BS in psychology, an MS in biochemistry, and a Ph.D in quantum chemistry and computer graphics from the University of Geneva.??

    Nadia Magnenat-Thalmann received a BS in psychology, an MS in biochemistry, and a Ph.D in quantum chemistry and computer graphics at the University of Geneva. A member of the Council of Science and Technology of the Government of Quebec and of the Council of Science and Technology of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, she also serves as a director of the Computer Graphics Society in Canada. She has received several awards, including the 1985 Communications Award from the Government of Quebec. In May 1987 she was nominated woman of the year in sciences by the Montreal community.
