    June Kim is a Lecturer at the faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture, University of New South Wales, Sydney. She teaches and supervises students in the disciplines of Media Arts and Interaction Design. She has served as a conference chair for SIGGRAPH Asia 2023, a program co- chair for SIGGRAPH Asia 2019 Art Gallery and a juror and reviewers for Art gallery, Art papers, Emerging technologies, Immersive Pavilion, and XR for SIGGRAPH and SIGGRAPH Asia conferences for multiple years.

    JUNE KIM is a teacher, practitioner, creative technologist, and researcher with 10+ years of experience creating commercial and personal works with different technologies and cutting-edge software in the creative field. Her primary research interest is in the function of immersion and simulation in human culture, in both the history of media technology and current applications to new and emerging forms of interaction.

    SIGGRAPH 2022

    My educational background is in creative technologies, multimedia, and IT/commerce. I am an associate lecturer (immersive design), UNSW Sydney. Prior to joining academia, I worked as a compositor and digital designer in New Zealand for about a decade. Since my first service as a student volunteer at SIGGRAPH Asia 2010, I have been participating in SIGGRAPH and SIGGRAPH Asia conferences as a reviewer, juror, and on the conference committee.

    SIGGRAPH 2019

    June Kim is currently the Chair of SIGGRAPH’s International Resources Committee (IRC) and co-chair of the SIGGRAPH Asia 2019 art gallery. Kim is a longtime ACM SIGGRAPH member and volunteer based in Sydney, Australia, who was a student volunteer at SIGGRAPH Asia nine years ago.

    June’s background is in interactive art and virtual reality. She is currently a researcher-practitioner in the Art and Design discipline at UNSW Art & Design and holds a casual academic position at UNSW Art & Design and the University of Sydney. Her expertise lies in melding interactive art and the virtual environment. At ACM SIGGRAPH, Kim has held numerous roles, including as a member of VR/AR/MR Program Jury for SIGGRAPH 2018, SIGGRAPH Asia 2017 and 2018. She also served as a Juror and an Awards Chair for Emerging Technologies for SIGGRAPH Asia 2017 and 2018. She presented her course to introduce Processing for Artists & Designers at SIGGRAPH Asia 2017.

    June Kim is currently a researcher-practitioner in the Art and Design discipline at UNSW Art Design and holds a casual academic position at UNSW Art Design and the University of Sydney. Her expertise lies in melding interactive art and the virtual environment. At ACM SIGGRAPH, Kim has held numerous roles, including as a member of VR/AR/MR Program Jury for SIGGRAPH 2018, SIGGRAPH Asia 2017 and 2018. She also served as a Juror and an Awards Chair for Emerging Technologies for SA2017 SA2018. She presented her course to introduce Processing for Artists Designers at SIGGRAPH Asia 2017.

    SIGGRAPH 2018

    June Kim is an interactive artist, PhD candidate and casual academic at the interactive media lab, UNSW art & design (University of New South Wales), Australia. For my research, I currently explore self perception, self and memory with practice to create a series of non-representational virtual reality artwork based on my fragmented memories. I have experience in teaching and researching at USYD (University of Sydney) , QUT (Queensland University of Technology) in Australia and AUT (Auckland University of Technology) in New Zealand for last four years. Before having my career goal as a practitioner-researcher and academic, I had worked as a compositor (lead) and generalist (2D & 3D) around eight years in NZ. I have my degree (Business in IT), Postgraduate Diploma (Communication studies) and MCT(Honours) (Masters of Creative Technology) at the AUT in NZ.

    SIGGRAPH 2018

    June Kim is a media arts practitioner-researcher who currently teaches at the Sydney University and undertakes PhD at the University of New South Wales Art & Design, Sydney, Australia. Her current research in Virtual Reality (VR) is to investigate the ways VR can challenge the dichotomous relationship between subject and object that still determines relationship amongst humans and between humans and non-humans in contemporary society as an extension of her participants in the conversation virtual reality research project ? Many Eyes on the Wild (Amazon, Peru). With passion in implementing innovative interfaces and technologies as interdisciplinary place to reflect and discourse, she organises collaborative media art-science galleries and symposiums in different cities. Previous events were held in EPICentre-UNSW (Sydney), The Cube-QUT (Brisbane), Media Art Nexus, NTU (Singapore). Her works and talks were presented in various conferences and festivals including SIGGRAPH, SIGGRAPH Asia, FMX, ISEA, OZVIZ SAS, Seoul Creative, VRCAI and Web3D.
