Jason Lawrence is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at the University of Virginia. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Princeton University. Jason’s principal research interests focus on the acquisition and efficient representation of real-world material appearance. He recently introduced an “Inverse Shade Trees” frame- work for representing measured surface reflectance through a hierarchical decomposition designed for efficient rendering and editing.
