Bio:

    As Digital Effects Supervisor, Thomas J. Smith oversees all aspects of digital effects on his shows. Smith first joined Cinesite in 1992 as the Daytime Supervisor during the restoration of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Thereafter, he served as Senior Composite Designer and Composite Supervisor. Smith began his filmmaking career at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) in 1987. With an M.F.A and a. B.F.A in Photography/Printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute, Smith landed a job in the Optical Department, and transitioned from the Optical Department to the newly formed 2D Digital Department at ILM. As Digital Compositor, Smith’s credits include Academy Award-winning Death Becomes Her, as well as Backdraft and Invisible Man. After serving as Senior Composite Designer for the Academy Award-winning Independence Day, Smith returned to Cinesite Visual Effects in March 1997 assuming the position of 2D Supervisor.
