SIGGRAPH 2022

Theresa-Marie Rhyne is currently consulting on the practice of applying color theory to digital media and visualization, and is a color maven and digital media guru. In 2015, her book on these subjects was published by CRC Press. In her career, she founded not one, but two visualization centers: (1) the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Scientific Visualization Center in the 1990s and (2) the Center for Visualization and Analytics at North Carolina State University in the 2000s. She currently writes articles for the Nightingale, the journal of the Data Visualization Society.

SIGGRAPH 2008

Theresa-Marie Rhyne is a long time contributor to the ACM SIGGRAPH and IEEE Visualization communities, having organized and taught previous courses in visualization and internetworked 3D graphics at both annual conferences, and is currently the Director of the Center for Visualization & Analytics and the Renaissance Computing Institute’s Engagement Facility at NC State University.

SIGGRAPH 1999

Theresa Marie Rhyne is currently a Lead Scientific Visualization Researcher employed by Lockheed Martin Technical Services at the U.S. EPA Scientific Visualization Center. She is also a director-at-large on ACM SIGGRAPH’s Executive Committee and initiated the SIGCOMM – SIGGRAPH collaboration that resulted in cross-ACM SIG tutorials on Internetworked 3D Computer Graphics at SIGCOMM 97, SIGGRAPH 97 and SIGGRAPH 98. Her research interests include visualization toolkit development, collaborative computing in a networked environment and the integration of geographic information systems with scientific visualization methods. Working with geographers, Theresa-Marie expanded her geographic visualization efforts to address Web, Java and VRML applications. Theresa-Marie is also an accomplished artist and art educator in computer graphics. She authored the “Portrait of a Computer Artist” discussion which appears in the 1991 edition of the ACM SIGGRAPH Computer Graphics Career Handbook.

SIGGRAPH 1998

Theresa Marie Rhyne is currently a Lead Scientific Visualization Researcher employed by Lockheed Martin Technical Services at the U.S. EPA Scientific Visualization Center. She is also a director-at-large on ACM SIGGRAPH’s Executive Committee and initiated the SIGCOMM – SIGGRAPH  collaboration that resulted in cross-ACM SIG tutorials on Internetworked 3D Computer Graphics at SIGCOMM 97 and SIGGRAPH 97. Her research interests include visualization toolkit development, collaborative computing in a networked environment and the integration of geographic information systems with scientific visualization methods. Working with geographers, Theresa-Marie has recently expanded her geographic visualization efforts to address Web, Java and VRML applications.

SIGGRAPH 1997

Theresa Marie Rhyne is currently a Lead Scientific Visualization Researcher employed by Lockheed Martin Technical Services at the U.S. EPA Scientific Visualization Center. From 1990-1992, she was the technical leader of the U.S. EPA Scientific Visualization Center and was responsible for building the Center since its founding in 1990. She was the SIGGRAPH 96 Panels Chair and currently serves as a Director at Large on the SIGGRAPH Executive Committee. Her research interests include visualization toolkit development, collaborative computing in a networked environment and the integration of geographic information systems with scientific visualization methods.

SIGGRAPH 1996

Theresa Marie Rhyne is currently a Lead Scientific Visualization Researcher and is responsible for the Research and Development activities at the U.S. EPA Scientific Visualization Center. She is employed by Lockheed Martin Technical Services. From 1990 – 1992, she was the technical leader of the U.S. EPA Scientific Visualization Center and was responsible for building the Center since its founding in 1990. Her research interests include visualization toolkit development, collaborative computing in a networked environment and the integration of geographic information systems with scientific visualization methods. She is also a practicing fine artist and art educator in computer graphics. Rhyne authored the “Portrait of a Computer Artist” discussion which appears in the 1991 edition of the ACM/SIGGRAPH Computer Graphics Career Handbook.
