Robert Sproull is presently Vice President and Fellow at Sun Microsystems Laboratories, Inc. where he is starting a section of the laboratory in Billerica, Mass. Since undergraduate days, he has been building hardware and software for computer graphics: early clipping hardware, an early device-independent graphics package, laser printing software. page description languages, and window systems. Robert is currently helping Sun with future architectural issues. Prior to Sun, he was a principal with Sutherland, Sproull & Associates. as associate professor at Carnegie Mellon University and a member of the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center. He is coauthor with William Newman of the early text. “Principals of Interactive Computer Graphics.”
