Kelly Ward is currently a senior software engineer at Walt Disney Animation Studios, where she develops hair simulation tools for animated films. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2002 and 2005, respectively. She received a B.S. with honors in Computer Science and Physics from Trinity College in Hartford, CT in 2000, where she was named the President’s Fellow in Physics in 1999-2000. Her research interests include hair modeling, physically-based simulation, collision detection, and computer animation. She has given several presentations and invited lectures on her hair modeling research at international venues.
