Bio:
Joe Takayama is a CGI artist and an associate professor of Musashino Art University in Tokyo, Japan. He started his career as a CGI artist when he was still an undergraduate student. After graduation, he went on to the Graduate School of Design at Kyushu University (formerly known as Kyushu Institute of Design). After finishing his Ph.D. in 2007, he moved to the U.S.A. as a visiting scholar on the ATEC Program (Arts & Technology), at the University of Texas at Dallas. Following his return to Japan, he was a research fellow at Kyushu University and a lecturer at Kyushu Sangyo University. His research interests in the field of CGI include procedural animation and algorithmic art. Several of Takayama’s animation works have won prizes and have been screened at a range of film festivals and conferences, including SIGGRAPH, Ars Electronica, and Eurographics.
