SIGGRAPH 2024
“I am a professor of Computer Science at Ecole Polytechnique, specialized in Computer Graphics. This involves a balance of research and teaching. In my research, I am developing expressive techniques for the creation of 3D shapes, motions, and animated virtual worlds. I am mostly teaching specialized courses in graphics now, but in the past, I taught programming, algorithms, data-structures and operational research as well. I have been doing this since the beginning of my doctoral studies, almost 30 years ago.”
SIGGRAPH 2023
Cani received her PhD at Universite Paris XI in 1990. She first joined Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris, as an Assistant Professor, and later moved to Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble, where she became Associate and then full Professor. She led two joint research groups with Inria, EVASION (2003-2011) and then IMAGINE (2012-2017). In 2014-2015, Cani was appointed as the yearly chair of computer science at the Collège de France, and in 2017, she became a professor of computer science at Ecole Polytechnique, Institut Polytechnique de Paris, France.
SIGGRAPH 2008
Marie-Paule Cani is a Professor at the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, France. A graduate from the Ecole Normale Sup ́erieure, she received a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Paris Sud in 1990. She was awarded membership of the Institut Universitaire de France in 1999. Her main research interest is to explore the use of geometric and physically-based models for designing complex interactive scenes. Recent applications include the animation of natural scenes (lava-flows, ocean, meadows, wild animals, human hair) and interactive sculpting or sketching techniques. Marie-Paule Cani has served in the program committee of the major CG conferences. She co-chaired IEEE Shape Modelling & Applications in 2005 and was paper co-chair of EUROGRAPHICS’2004 and SCA’2006.
