The painted deserts of the American Southwest are the inspiration for this rendering. The variety of pastel tones is evoked with a procedural texture. This image was conceived as a technical illustration for the mirage model, seen in the foreground. It also serves as a sophisticated color study, through the use of stochastic color functions.
