Andy Wilson is a PhD. student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received a B.Sc. from Northwestern University, where he developed Neverworld, a multi-user, multi-modal shared virtual environment, and organized and co-taught two quarter-long courses in which groups of 30 programmers and non-programmers explored the use of the system. Since joining the UNC Walkthrough team, Andy has dealt with issues of memory and database management for interactive display and interaction with massive models, including visualization of a 15-million-polygon model as well as collision detection at interactive rates using that same model. He currently serves as Walkthrough team leader and is responsible for supervising and integrating the research efforts of ten graduate students. His current research interests include organization of large geometric databases to permit efficient VO.
