    Spatial Resolution in Haptic Rendering

Abstract:

The effect of spatial resolution in haptic rendering remains to be well understood or studied. How much resolution is actually required? How sensitive are human beings? To answer such questions, we conducted psychophysical experiments to measure absolute thresholds of haptic smoothness in perceiving curved surfaces presented by two point-contact type force feedback devices with different spatial resolutions.
