Abstract:

NASA’s twin Mars Exploration Rovers are controlled by a team of scientists and engineers here on Earth. Each day, the operations staff has only four hours to analyze new data gathered by the rovers and create a detailed plan for the next day’s activity.
To help the operations staff cope with this daunting task, NASA/JPL developed a software package known as the Science Activity Planner (SAP). SAP is designed to reduce planning complexity and time pressure by providing an immersive planning and analysis environment using a variety of real-time data fusion and visualization techniques.
