Title:

    Generating secondary motions in shadow play animations with motion planning techniques

Presenter(s)/Author(s):

Abstract:

    The Chinese shadow play, as depicted in Figure 1, is a kind of drama in which silhouettes made of hard paper and hide are projected onto a white screen. Motions of a character are realized by manipulating the parts of a character via some sticks on the hands of an animator. In this work, we attempt to develop a shadow play animation system that utilizes motion planning algorithms developed in Robotics to generate shadow play animations automatically according to user’s high-level inputs.
