Program Title:

From Computer Graphics' Past to the Future

Description:

The Utah teapot has become one of the most iconic graphic symbol in the SIGGRAPH community. 3D renders of Martin Newell and Jim Blinn’s teapot have appeared in technical papers, emerging technologies demonstrations and posters throughout the 50 years of SIGGRAPH conferences. To honor this tradition, a series of golden teapots have been 3D printed using off-the-shelf hardware in a small academic lab. This do-it-yourself approach mirrors the SIGGRAPH community’s ethos. See this collection scattered amongst historic elements from SIGGRAPH’s past in the Concourse Alcoves.
