Description:

Metazoa is a large-scale (100 megabyte) tutorial on invertebrate zoology, designed for upper-level college students, but it is also suitable for use as an educational exhibit in museums or aquariums. The tutorial provides a supplement to 1ecture and textbook information and was developed as a motivational tool for a content-intensive subject. The program includes both the traditional phylum-by-phylum approach and comparative systems coverage.

Features include descriptive text, digitized pronunciations, original artwork, animations, pertinent short stories, digitized color slides, and more than 40 anatomically-detailed three-dimensional animated models of invertebrates. The program’s theme, “Vanishing Kingdom,” refers to the biodiversity crisis, a global problem which threatens to eliminate at 1east 25% of all invertebrate species in the next 100 years due to human overpopulation.
