Title:

ACM SIGGRAPH History Archive: From Memory to Experience

Description:

This session will include presentations from key members of the ACM SIGGRAPH archive team who will discuss various aspects of the archives. The ACM SIGGRAPH History Archive is both a physical and online repository that contains information related to the SIGGRAPH conferences and organization. It is still in development and is being built with a team of international volunteers and student interns. The contents of the physical archive come from private and institutional collections and is currently housed at Bowling Green State University. From gathering and inventorying the artifacts to preparing and entering the data to building the technical infrastructure to bringing the archive alive at the 50th conference celebration, the presenters will give the attendees a backstage tour of the entire pipeline. This journey through time will include a discussion of the early days of SIGGRAPH swag, creating relationships between data and transforming the physical and online archive into an exhibit worthy of presentation at the 50th SIGGRAPH Conference celebration. The ACM SIGGRAPH Archive is sponsored by ACM, ACM SIGGRAPH, ACM SIGGRAPH Digital Arts Committee, ACM SIGGRAPH History Committee, and the generous support of a number of Computer Graphics Pioneers.
