Bio:

  • SIGGRAPH 1999

    James Lester is Director of the IntelliMedia Initiative at North Carolina State University, where he is also an Assistant Professor of Computer Science. Lester has lectured widely on lifelike animated agents that provide real time problem-solving advice to students, and virtual cinematography for 3D self-explaining learning environments. He earned his PhD, MSCS, and BA in Computer Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds a BA in History from Baylor University. He was recognized with the Best Paper Award at the 1997 International Conference on AI in Education and with a Career Award by the National Science Foundation.
