As Executive Director and Chief Curator of Contemporary Art at The Fine Arts Museum of Long Island, Eleanor Flomenhaft has coordinated over 200 exhibits and catalogs. Ms. Flomenhaft is also developer of new programs, writer of grants, and organizer of fund raising events at the museum. Her exhibits have been seen in many museums throughout the United States and the world. Ms. Flomenhaft is the leading expert on Cobra art in the United States, and is the author of The Roots and Development of COBRA Art, published in 1985, which is the first book in the English language on that important Abstract Expressionist European group. She has also developed the first museum-centered computer imaging showcase in America providing computer assisted art exhibits and computer hardware and software for visitors’ use. Ms. Flomenhaft received the Presidential Award for outstanding contributions to the arts in the Long Island community in 1984.
