Bio:
[1938 – 2022], born Trieste, Italy. Drawn to art by my gymnasium teacher August Cernigoj, I studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, Slovenia under Gabriel Stupica, and then earned an M.F.A. in painting and printmaking at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. In 1968, | started teaching at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, switching to St. Olaf College the year after. During this time I ran into a paradox with painting and began using computers. I returned to Italy and spent the seventies working at the Computer Center of the University of Trieste in collaboration with Matjaz Hmeljak. In 1980, | joined Syracuse University where I established the computer graphics lab, wrote the curriculum and taught Computer Graphics for the Fine Arts until I was granted emeritus status in 2008.
