Derek Ney is a consultant in medical imaging software. He was an assistant professor of radiology at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions until 1993. His work has focused on the application of advanced computer imaging techniques to radiology. His current research interests include the development of high-level interactive 3D segmentation tools, the creation of programming tool-kits for implementing 3D rendering algorithms, and the development of new 3D volume rendering algorithms. He received his undergraduate degree in computer engineering from Caltech in 1987.
