Abstract:

We present a new approach for designing guitars making use of the digital environment. We aim to preserve the physical connection between a user and the instrument, while offering innovative sound design. The reAcoustic eGuitar is a digitally fabricated instrument to design sounds. A user shapes it by modifying six separate acoustic chambers. We contextualize the need for such an artifact within the evolution of the guitar.
