Abstract:


    For the movie ”Van Helsing”, we had to create two exterior sequences with stormy skies in the background: roiling wind-blown clouds, lightning and rain. The clouds had to move in a realistic and yet exaggerated and directable way, which made us decide to use computer graphic simulation instead of photographic elements or matte paintings. However, the large number of shots (around 80) meant that the technique that was developed had to be efficient and usable
