Title:

    Reflectance estimation of sparkle in metallic paints

Presenter(s)/Author(s):

Abstract:

    Metallic paints are used in many situations such as cars or small electronic gadgets. Although Westlund and Meyer [Westlund and Meyer 2001] proposed a method to render the realistic image of metallic paints, the sparkling effect of metallic paints is not considered. Ershov et al. [Ershov et al. 2001] proposed a method to render the sparkling effect of metallic paints based on the layered model. However, it is difficult to determine model parameters of real painted objects. In this paper, we propose a simple model to express the sparkle in metallic paints and describe a method to estimate reflectance properties of sparkle using real images.
