Abstract:


    We describe here our current research on an educational platform for both the integration of and interaction with 2D and 3D medical data. We allow users to navigate at different levels of detail through 3D models of the human body. At each level of detail, several tools allow users to interact with the 3D anatomical representations. We have also developed a way to show relationships between specific 3D views with 2D and 3D data, such as images, videos, HTML documents, and real volumetric data represented as 3D textures. Additionally, our environment can be configured and executed from PCs to immersive environments in a scalable manner. This system is the foundation for a human atlas we are developing for our Health Sciences Department, which is going to be used throughout their curricula.
