Abstract:

    Description
The main fields that are currently pushing research in computational fabrication are:

Mechanical Eng Robotics : new fabrication tools, verification systems, design of cyber physical systems. Key topics are: HCI: interfaces for design: Understanding how users interact with design, using this to drive interfaces that makes it simpler for people with little expertise to design new objects, and interfaces with manufacturing hardware. Computer Graphics: geometry, design optimization, accurate simulation. Systems/PL: how do define hardware abstractions and DSLs for design: think of a factory as a computer: scheduling etc. And of course there many other areas that are related: from ML, to security, to computational biology. So one of the most exciting thing about this area is that it is highly interdisciplinary.
