Abstract:

Natural camouflage arises from competition between predator and prey. To survive, predators must find prey, and prey must avoid being found. This 2D “artificial life” simulation models that adversarial relationship: prey evolve camouflage patterns while predators evolve visual detectors for prey. The environment is provided by photographs of natural scenes.
