This panel session presents and discusses new uses of digital image processing techniques in commercial and artistic applications. Members of the panel present their own work, review the precedents of image manipulations, and identify applications where digital image processing is not now, but could be, applied. These techniques are placed on a historical continuum pointing toward future possibilities. The panel discusses applications such as facial image composite development, plastic surgery previewing and colorization of original black and white films. Reference is made to the issue of interaction and the creative/production process.
