Abstract:
The level of complexity needed to create the visual effects for the “The Day After Tomorrow” Twister sequence was daunting. Generating the twisters themselves was difficult enough, but they needed to interact with buildings, crowds, cars, trees and debris seamlessly. These tornadoes needed to convincingly affect everything in their path, and be affected by everything around them. From our collective experience on other shows as ambitious as this, we knew that good planning and organization would be everything.
