Abstract:
Graphics standards are supposed to do for graphics what the ANSI standard did for FORTRAN. But will they? This panel looks at the several standards vying for acceptance and at the requirements of its intended benefactors-the buying public. The panel examines the problems of implementing a single standard faced both by hardware manufacturers and software vendors and considers the value of standards certification.
