Abstract:


    Monte Carlo rendering heavily uses mixture sampling and multiple importance sampling. Previous work has shown that control variates can make such mixtures more efficient and robust. However, existing approaches failed to yield practical applications. We achieve robust improvements for common applications such as light selection, BSDF sampling, and path guiding.
