Title:

    Ray-space interpolation for free viewpoint generation

Presenter(s)/Author(s):

Abstract:

    In order to realize a high quality FTV system (Free Viewpoint Television), this paper presents a novel Ray-space interpolation method. The efficiency of the Interpolation scheme utilized to create the view point where a camera is not physically present is critical and has a direct effect on the system’s performance. Here in this paper, we present a Ray-space interpolation scheme based on Double Disparity Estimation and Adaptive Disparity Smoothing with occlusion detection. Experimental results show up to 1.3dB improvement in comparison with previous schemes by M.Droese, promising a real time implementation for the next generation of televisions.
