Abstract:


    Elastic knots are physical realizations of closed curves embedded in three-space. We propose a computational pipeline that leverages the simulation of elasticity and contacts to find multiple stable equilibria of elastic knots. An extensive data set is analyzed to discover and design novel transformable structures and engaging recreational puzzles.
