    Variational Superformula Curves for 2D and 3D Graphic Arts

Abstract:


    Graphic artists and designers, confronted with the challenge of developing new designs and shapes both in 2D and 3D, are constantly looking for new shapes and patterns. Supergraphx products and applications provide such solutions for graphic arts in 2D, 3D, and animation. Supergraphx transforms the PC from being a computing tool into an extension of human imagination and creativity – capable of generating anything one can think of.
    The solution is based on a particularly interesting and entirely unique equation called the Superformula, a generalization of superellipses and supercircles, with a stunning representation of natural geometries in plants and living things [1] and with potential for computer graphics [2]. Here we further build on this work, to show how the Superformula can be used advantageously for graphic arts, both in 2D and 3D. We will show how the initial Superformula has been converted into technology and products with added value to users, and further that extremely compact files can be created for graphics and CAD applications.
