Title:

    The Art of Expanded Animation

Description:

The expanded field of animation explores a rich continuum of innovation and philosophical inquiry that predates cinematic storytelling and continues through the hybridic topologies of post-media aesthetics. This session explores expansive new frontiers for making and experiencing animation at the intersections of art, technology, and performance. Drawing upon rich histories of pre-cinematic moving-image, avant-garde filmmaking, Expanded Cinema, video art and intermedia events, participants discuss frameworks for animation that extend beyond cinematic and theatrical black boxes.
