Andrea Weidlich is a Principal Researcher at NVIDIA in the Real-Time Rendering Research department. Before joining NVIDIA, she worked for Weta Digital, where she designed the material system attached to Weta’s proprietary physically based renderer, Manuka. Her main research areas are appearance modelling and material prototyping. Andrea holds a Master of Arts in Applied Media from the University of Applied Arts Vienna and a PhD in Computer Science from Vienna University of Technology.

Andrea Weidlich is a Senior Researcher at Weta Digital where she is responsible for the material system attached to Weta’s proprietary physically-based renderer, Manuka. Andrea grew up in Vienna, Austria, where she studied technical computer science, and later focused on computer graphics. Before joining Weta, she worked for the automotive industry. Her main research areas are appearance modeling and material prototyping. Andrea holds a Master of Arts in Applied Media from University of Applied Arts, Vienna and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Vienna University of Technology.
SIGGRAPH Asia 2009
Andrea Weidlich is currently an assistant professor at Technische Universität Wien, where she graduated in 2005 with a MSc in computer science and a MSc in computer science management. She defended her PhD thesis in March 2009. Her current research interests include predictive rendering with a special focus on gemstone prototyping and appearance modeling.
