Makoto Sato was born on February 26, 1951. He received his B.E., M.E. and Dr. Degrees in 1973, 1975 and 1978, respectively, from Tokyo Institute of Technology. From 1978 to 1986, he was a Research Associate in the Department of Computer Science, Tokyo Institute of Technology. He was appointed Associate Professor in 1986 and Professor in 1996 at Precision and Intelligence Laboratory, Tokyo Institute of Technology. .He is now a professor emeritus of Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan.
