Dr. Steven Parker is vice president of professional graphics at NVIDIA Corporation, where he holds responsibility for several ray tracing technologies, including NVIDIA RTX™ drivers and APIs such as NVIDIA OptiX™, the RTX™ rendering systems in NVIDIA Omniverse™, the Material Definition Language, and the NVIDIA IndeX® scientific visualization system. Combining a history of ray tracing, rendering, and high-performance computing, Parker has been focused on bringing physically based rendering systems to interactive applications.

Steve Parker is a research scientist in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Utah. His research focuses on problem solving environments, which tie together scientific computing, scientific visualization, and computer graphics. He is the principal architect of the SCIRun Software System, which formed the core of his Ph.D. dissertation. He was a recipient of the Computational Science Graduate Fellowship from the Department of Energy. He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1992, and a PhD from the University of Utah in 1999.
