Joaquim Jorge holds the UNESCO Chair of Artificial Intelligence & Extended Reality at the University of Lisboa, Portugal. He joined Eurographics in 1986 and ACM/SIGGRAPH in 1989. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Computers and Graphics Journal, Eurographics Fellow, ACM Distinguished Member, and member of IEEE Computer Society Board of Governors. He organized 50+ conferences, including Eurographics 2016 (IPC CO-Chair), IEEE VR 2020/21/22 as co-(papers)chair and ACM IUI 2012 (IPC co-chair). He served on 210+ program committees and (co)authored over 360 peer-reviewed publications and five books. His research interests include graphics, virtual reality, and advanced HCI techniques applied to health technologies.

Joaquim Jorge received his PhD from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, coordinates the GI research group at INESC-ID, and is Full Professor of Computer Graphics at Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Computers & Graphics Journal, Eurographics Fellow, ACM Distinguished Member and Speaker, and IEEE Senior Member. He served on the ACM Europe Council, Chairs the ACM/SIGGRAPH Specialized Conferences Committee. He has organized 40+ international scientific events, was IEEEVR 2020 and Eurographics 2016 papers co-chair, served on 200+ program committees, and (co-)authored 300+ publications in international peer-refereed venues. His research interests include AR/VR, Medical Applications, User Interfaces, 3D Visualization.

Joaquim Jorge coordinates the VIMMI research group at INESC-ID, is Professor of Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Computers and Graphics Journal, a Fellow of the Eurographics Association, a Distinguished ACM Member and Speaker, and IEEE Senior Member. He organized 40+ scientific events, including Eurographics 2016 as IPC CO-Chair, Eurovis 2019 as co-chair and IEEE VR 2020 as IPC co-chair. He is ACM/SIGGRAPH SCC Chair and (co)authored over 300 publications in international refereed journals, conferences, and books. His research interests include virtual reality, multimodal user interfaces, and medical applications.
