Herbert Voelcker is a professor of electrical engineering and Aristides Requicha is an associate professor of electrical engineering at the University of Rochester where they share responsibility for a new graduate program in programmable automation. They also are responsible for the Production Automation Project, which has been engaged in solid modeling research for more than a decade. Requicha earned the Engenheiro Electrotecnico degree from the Instituto Superior Tecnico, Lisbon, Portugal, and a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester. Voelcker holds degrees in mechanical and electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. from the Imperial College of Science & Technology.
