Daniel Rice is the chief architect and technical lead for the Java Advanced Imaging API. He has worked since 1994 in the Imaging and Video system software group at Sun Microsystems’ Computer Systems division. His previous projects at Sun include acceleration or imaging, video, and audio applications and libraries including Adobe PhotoshopTM and Sun’s XIL imaging Library. His interests include microprocessor-based multimedia acceleration and high-performance image processing. He has spoken about the Java Advanced Imaging API at the JavaOne developers’ conference and the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America. He holds a BA in Mathematics and Computer Science with High Honors from Swarthmore College and an MS in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
