See the newly introduced graphics workstations, both VAX/VMS and RISC/ULTRIX. Digital has recently announced its most powerful RISC-based workstation designed for compute-intensive 3D and 2D graphics applications in the ECAD, MCAD, 3D modeling, and animation markets. The DS5000/200 offers a choice of graphics modules, and an open TURBO channel I/O inter-connect. The VAX.station 3100/SPX offers 10 times the graphics processing of previous models and offers a variety of vendor applications.

Digital Equipment Corporation is displaying its current line of workstation products in various application areas such as compound documents, imaging, scientific visualization, and molecular modeling as well as others. All applications running are under DECwindows, Digitals graphical user interface based on the X-Window System. The newly announced VRE01 19=electroluminescence Flat Panel Monitor is also displayed.

Highlighted will be: A full line of H/W Platforms from the Desktop, such as VAXmate, to the family of workstations ranging from the VAXstation 2000 to the 3D VAXstation 8000. Digital’s many roads to graphics solutions will be displayed at this year’s symposium The VT240/ 1, designed as a business or data reduction graphics terminal, optimized for the office environment. The VAXstation 100 is Digital’s workstation terminal for the technical professional using VAX/VMS, providing menus that allow quick and easy access to screen services. IVIS is Digital’s newest inroad to advanced computer technology, combining the power of a Professional 350, 16-bit minicomputer with the clarity of a laserdisc image DECtouch also takes full advantage of the Professional 350, allowing users to “talk” to the computer without words, control commands or a keyboard. Digital will also display their super microcomputer products, the Micro/ PDP-11 and the recently announced Microvax 1. Both are based on the popular O-Bus software.
