Bio

SIGGRAPH 2021

My expertise is in image computing, and I have a broad background in Al-related technologies (vision, robotics, ML). I have been a SIGGRAPH attendee, contributor, and volunteer for more than two decades. As a volunteer, I’ve assisted a variety of juries and review committees, as well as chairing the SIGGRAPH 2019 Courses Program. As a contributor, I’ve been lucky enough to have presented in the Talks, Panels, and Technical Papers programs, I work at RightHand Robotics in their computer vision group. Prior to that, I was at Blue Sky Studios where I was a research engineer focused on advancing animation and rendering technology.

SIGGRAPH 2016

Michael Reed is a Senior Research Associate in the R&D group at Blue Sky Studios, where he works on geometry-related functionality in Blue Sky’s renderer CGIStudio. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Columbia, his BS in Physics from the State University of New York at Albany, and has held appointments at the research laboratories of IBM, Philips, and Bell Atlantic corporations.
