Bio
SIGGRAPH 1997
Don Brotzman is a computer scientist working in the Interdisciplinary Academic Group at the Naval Postgraduate School. His research interests include underwater robotics, real-time 3D computer graphics, artificial intelligence and high-performance networking. He has highlighted networking issues in panel presentations at SIGGRAPH 94 & 95 and organized the “VRML: Prelude and Future” panel at SIGGRAPH 96. Recently, he was the chair of the VRML 97 Symposium. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Special Interest Group on Graphics (SIGGRAPH), the American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) and the Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) Consortium.

Bob is a technical staff member of CIC-6 Customer Service group in the Computing, Information and Communications Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory. His technical work has been in the areas of scientific visualization, computer graphics, high-speed networking, and desktop systems support. He recently has been helping K-12 education sites become connected to the Internet. He was the Group Leader of the Computer Graphics Group at Los Alamos for nearly seven years and also founded the first UNIX workstation support group at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Bob was the conference co-chair for SIGGRAPH ’93 and Panels Chair for SIGGRAPH ’89 & ’91. Bob is currently the information manager of SIGGRAPH.ORG. Bob was also the first president and founding director of the International Sun Users Group.
