Élie Michel joined Adobe as a Research Scientist after completing a PhD in Computer Graphics at IP Paris under the supervision of Pr. Tamy Boubekeur. His topics of interest gather around the improvement of digital creation and authoring processes, and he studies in particular the challenges raised by the variety of representations of 2D or 3D shapes (procedural, implicit, point-based, neural, etc.), helping their authoring, manipulation and analysis through methods ranging from symbolic AI to real-time rendering. He is also actively involved in discussing and addressing the various environmental impacts that computer graphics have, trying to foster lightweight techniques over heavier ones.
