Abstract:

We have developed a new musical instrument based on juggling in real time. Moreover, the system can be used as the rhythm generator, thanks to integration with the juggling patterns simulator. We include OSC and MIDI API. We have developed juggling balls equipped with accelerometers, gyroscopes, and Wi-Fi. The system measures acceleration during juggling and can distinguish when the ball is in the air, caught, or static. We calculate the direction of the throw based on acceleration.
