Bio
SIGGRAPH 2025
Nathaniel Larouche is a Canadian VFX and virtual production supervisor focused on finding new ways to tell stories using bleeding-edge technology. Based in Toronto, he currently leads teams on projects like Mr. Robot, The Umbrella Academy, Watchmen, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and most recently, The Penguin. He grew up just outside Montreal and got into filmmaking early—messing around with editing and stop-motion as a kid. That curiosity led him to study computer graphics in Toronto, where he realized he could combine his love of art, tech, and storytelling into a full-blown career. Nathaniel’s known for bringing cutting-edge tools into the creative pipeline. He’s helped pioneer real-time workflows and virtual production techniques, always pushing for more flexible, visual, and collaborative ways to work. His main focus? Helping other creatives explore and embrace new tech in service of great storytelling. Outside the studio, he’s a hands-on filmmaker with a taste for the surreal. His short films—Necronomicon, Baby Deer, and the Soft Rain series—mix emotional narratives with experimental visuals, showcasing his personal creative side. Whether he’s leading VFX on major productions or building strange little passion projects, Nathaniel’s approach stays the same: use technology to elevate the story—not distract from it.
