Abstract:
Binocular vision is adapted to the natural environment. We measured the statistics of eye movements and binocular disparities in VR. They are quite different from those in natural environments. This mismatch leads to measurable discomfort in VR. Our findings inform improvements to headsets yielding less discomfort and maximizing binocular FoV.
