    Modal Folding: Discovering Smooth Folding Patterns for Sheet Materials Using Strain-space Modes

Presenter(s)/Author(s):

Abstract:

    In this paper, we develop a computational approach for automatically discovering complex folding patterns. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our method with simulation results for a range of shapes and materials, and we validate our designs with physical prototypes.
